Bouw met Leem! | Build with Earth!
Ruim 2/3 van de meer dan 6,5 miljard aardbewoners woont of werkt vandaag de dag in lemen huizen, zoals hun voorouders dat al eeuwen lang deden.
Sinds 1995 ben ik betrokken bij een aantal leemprojecten. De verzamelde kennis heb ik sinds 2004 gebruikt om een linkverzameling op leem.startpagina.nl te zetten en te onderhouden. Nu heb ik deze weblog op gezet om meer informatie dan alleen links te kunnen geven.

More than 2/3 of the worldpopulation of approximately 6,5 billion people lives or works in Earth built (adobe- or mud built) buildings as their ancestors did for centuries.
Leem is the Dutch equivalent word for Earth (or adobe or mud).
As from 1995 I have been part of several projects involving building with earth. First I published the knowledge acquired as links at leem.startpagina.nl. Now I have set up this blog as a place to offer more information than only links.

Bij het project Het Groene Dak is het projecthuis uit leem opgetrokken. In 2000, 7 jaar na de bouw, komen ernstige vocht en zwamaantastingen aan het licht, zie: Leemramp, hoewel de site het niet vermeld, heb ik het vermoeden dat er elementaire ontwerpfouten of uitvoeringsfouten gemaakt zijn: Kruipruimtes moeten altijd geventileerd zijn.!

7 Years after building it appears in 200 in a Dutch ecological project Het Groene Dak that the comunity building has serious moist problems, see: Leemramp. Although it is not mentioned on the site I have the strong impression that there were some elemental design flaws here: Under a wooden floor, air circulation / ventilation is a must!

Zoals gezegd, is alle begin moeilijk. Als je al een tijd met het onderwerp bezig bent moet je terugschakelen om aan de nieuwsgierige toevallige voorbijganger duidelijk te kunnen maken waar je het over hebt. En dan stuit je op Natural Homes, een Nederlandse site die op begrijpelijke wijze uitleg geeft over wat leem is en plaats je hem op de startpagina en op deze log.

As said, it id difficult to decide where to begin. If one is involved in a subject for a long time, one has to shift down to be able to explain to the curious innocent reader what the subject is about. In doing so it is nice to come acros a new link Natural Homes, of a Dutch site that explains in plain simple Dutch what leem is about.
